Recently I visited FITC (Flash In The Can). A great event where talented developers and presenters showed their work. This was far out the best (flash) event I’ve ever seen. I stayed in a hotel nearby which was a really good idea, because there was a party late in the evening on a boat.
The combination of unbelievable presenters from around the globe, incredible networking opportunities, and the infamous FITC parties, all with the amazing backdrop of the city of Amsterdam, creates a stage set for the unexpected. We’ve brought back some of your favourite speakers, added a number of new ones, and we also have a few surprises up our sleeve to keep everyone on their toes. With some of the most interesting and engaging presenters from around the world, it’s 2 days and nights that will leave you inspired, energized and awed. Some artists that inspire me that event were Andre Michelle (who showed his audiotool called HobNox, where as3 is used in bit level to create for instance soundeffects like flanger, reverb or timestretching etc.). Mario Klingemann was also really amazing! He showed some cool mathematical algorithms, for example dividing triangles. A lot of presenters used actionscript to generate pixels which are based on several algorithms. Some used it to animate things, others used it to just create amazing stills! The presentation of Joshua Davis was really impressive! I’ve seen him before, he makes cool shit if you ask me.. I can keep on talking about it! It was really great, next year I will also be present!
Some cool pics! Also visit FITC 2009 on Flickr
